What will the stimulus program do for small business?
At the SBDC, we've been getting a lot of calls from small business owners regarding the stimulus package, also known as the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) or the 2009 Recovery Act. This page has links to information on the subject. Check back again - as we learn more, we will post it here.
Town Hall Meetings - May 2009
We recently held a series of Town Hall meetings to give small business owners information about the 2009 Recovery Act, and how it is going to assist small business owners. The turnout was very good, and resulted in many questions during the Q & A period of each meeting.
We put the most frequently asked questions and answers into a document you can view here.

The State will receive the grant funds, and then contract for the required services through their agencies; for example, the FL Department of Transportation, Road Construction.
To register to do business with state agencies, go to the official web portal of the State of Florida www.myflorida.com

Ensure your company is registered to do business with the FL city governments in order to receive the solicitation package for the opportunities identified at the stimulus watch web site.
Specific information regarding the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT)
The FDOT is estimated to receive $1.35 Billion for the state's highway and bridge program. FDOT is preparing for the federal economic stimulus funding for transportation. Since federal actions are taking place very quickly, the Department is also moving very quickly to respond. Check out these FDOT resources:
- A Web page www.dot.state.fl.us/planning/economicstimulus to provide information related to the federal economic stimulus. It will be updated as new information becomes available, so check back to this site frequently. You can also subscribe to email updates on this page.
- FDOT has published a preliminary list of projects that will be finalized once funding is provided to the state. In preparation, however, FDOT has already started advertising some potential design build projects. These projects can be found at http://www2.dot.state.fl.us/procurement/ads/advdbld.htm
